“Too many lives cut off from relationship. This is the source of our greatest poverty.” The Community Service Alliance (CSA) sees this as “the utmost challenge of the age.” The above logo reveals CSA’s strategy to address this challenge.
In some traditions of Africa and India, it is customary for persons to acknowledge each other with a slight bow and hands in the position of prayer. This greeting means “I recognize the God in you.”
Peace and freedom are the gifts that result when we act on this recognition. This is the logo’s central focus. The dove, between the two yin-yang contrasted figures, is the symbol of peace. The eagle, indistinguishably hovering over the two figures, is the symbol of freedom. The stained glass bodies, made up from colors of the rainbow and symbols of the world’s great religions, remind us that it is within our brokenness and differences that we are reconciled, and then reassembled into the body that reflects…the Creator’s glory.
